New Kids Spice up Indian Cricket

Hey hey guys & girls!!!yuvraj vs australia

Massive 6’s, brutal 4’s, primal grunts, stumps flying through the air, grimaces of frustration and the last over scramble… Now that’s what I call a cricket final!!!

I’m sure ALL you vibrant and enthusiastic cricketing fans out there had a fantastic couple of weeks enjoying the boundary smacking mayhem that graced the our lands in the South of Africa!!! And what a final between India and Pakistan to end the first ever Twenty 20 Cricket World Cup!!!

I mean seriously - who would have thought that the Indian Cricket team would smash their way to an unbelievable victory in the finals and be the first team in cricketing history to lift theTwenty20 World Cup trophy!!! With Tendulkar, Dravid and Ganguly - the Indian cricketing legends - opting out of the team, I had some cynical doubts as to the Indian cricket team’s chances of success. And then - like a bat out of hell - Yuvraj Singh steps to the plate and blasts England’s balls all over the stadium. Those poor poor pommies - I bet they didn’t think some fresh little chillies could pack so much punch!!!

_44136167_headline203Now here is something that really grates my cheese - I was listening to the radio the other day and there was some boring old prude making squeaky noises of protest over this whole Twenty 20 tournament (he obviously had a nappy rash). Apparently (according to him) Twenty 20 cricket is an absolute insult to the game of cricket. It seems he feels that it is far too much of an exciting, crowd churning, boundary breaking and country uniting celebration of the more “energetic” aspects of the game - far too much indeed - and APPARENTLY “it’s just not cricket old chap…”

Well my response to those individuals who like to sit at the cricket ground and whine and moan about all the shouting and screaming and flag waving and celebratory dance rituals — STAY AT HOME!!! That way if they don’t like what they’re watching or despise the jubilant vibe of masses of cheering spectators - they can flick right over to the Discovery channel or BBC Prime ;)

And to my fellow cricket hooligans and miscreants - I’ll be the dodgy Indian guy painted luminous green, with a watermelon helmet on his head, wearing the South African flag as a toga, and embarking on socially perilous quests of juvenile tomfoolery - see you there!

Oh yeah almost forgot - CONGRATS INDIA!! Keep up the spicy hotness!!!

Ya man what a final, couldnt have been a better match up, when they play eachother its more than just about winning or losing, their political histories and social differences make it a “mini war” every time. Although India was the team I supported (Im from Durbs after all), I really think that Pakistan deserved to win it too, that comeback in the dying stages was epic….unfortunately that last catch was a real dumbass move, he could have played those last 3 balls much differently. Oh well.
    CONGRATS INDIA.
