Indeed New Year’s is a time to forget about all your worries, take all that negative energy throw it in a box and lock it away, because if you don’t and you try to go out into the insanity, you WILL lose your mind. New Years is an awesome fun terrible bane of an event…depending on your likes and disposition.
When I was a young dude it used to be a fantastic time for going out dancing and hunting beautiful girls. Now that I’m old and fragile I like to take it veeeery easy and relax with my love. Honestly if I could stay at home and have a relaxed evening and wait for 12 I’d be happy.
Going out to hectic busy places just isn’t cricket anymore, screaming drunk people who just want to get into fights and end up passed out in their own chunder is not exactly an evening I’d consider fun. Is it just me or does the violent drunk thing on the increase in South Africa. I never remember it being so bad, when I was over in England for two years it was like that there, however I never expected it down here…anyways what can you do?
When I was down for new year’s 2000 me and some buddies did the whole Clifton 4th beach jol, it was a mad house, thousands of youngsters crammed the beach and the road above was inching along at a super slow pace. This year it was DEAD in comparison. Chilled is the best word to describe it…even family”ish”. There were a few trashed guys stumbling about, but nothing like what I experienced in 00. So where did all the people go, how can such a popular spot become uber quiet??
I’m interested in how you think New Years has changed over the years (or how it hasn’t) and how people have changed towards the whole affair.
