in durban, opinion and celebs.
Amy Winehouse arrested again, Paris Hilton caught flashing the world her naughty bits and Britney Spears is, well being Britney Spears. Welcome to the gloriously classy world of our “idols”.Our obsession with the celebrities in Hollywood is crazy. Magazines sell millions of copies every week and major television networks devote one hour every night to the latest celebrity news, hell, even South African television has caught onto the craze.
We know the lives of celebrities better than the lives of our friends and family. I can guarantee that most teenagers in South Africa would be able to tell you the names of Britney Spears’s children but wouldn’t have the slightest clue as to who is our countries vice president. Very sad.The Society that we live in relates mostly to what goes on in the plastic world of Hollywood. The impact of celebrities can be a good thing or a bad thing. The good thing about celebrities is the amount of power and status they hold, impacting the world through their good behaviour, such as giving money to Africa or helping with charities such as breast cancer or AIDS.But, this is very rare. Most people have heard of parents complaining about the little amount of clothing Britney Spears or Paris Hilton have on and how their presence as celebrities is influencing the behaviour of their children.
Celebrities are the obsessions of many people and fans will pay big bucks for a single sock that Hugh Heffner got down and dirty in or an Amy Winehouse autographed vodka bottle. It is simple. We are obsessed with the lives of people who are glamorous, rich and pretty.
Could it be that we love this stuff because we have nothing else to do and it is quite amusing. Watching Paris Hilton, the Heiress (can you handle it), get arrested for drunk driving really sends great messages to all the people who look up to her. Ok, don’t get me wrong, I, like every other male, loves having a good squiz at these woman. But, sometimes things just go too far.
If you think about it, mostly all trends today are started by celebrities. Trends include phrases like “That’s Hot.” More popular trends include the ways celebrities dress. The reason why trucker hats or a certain brand becomes popular is because most likely a celebrity wore it on the red carpet or in a movie. Kabala bracelets, do any of you out there actually know what the religion is about? No, you don’t. It’s only cool because Madonna is a fan. Get with it guys, be yourself.
Basically, im tired of all of this. Its time that people be themselves and have a deeper look into their own lives than trying to live through some surgically enhanced blonde. Try it out guys; you will be opening yourselves to a whole new real world.

Gooood Monday morning everybody.
Yes another week of work and study is upon us and in some of our cases it’s enough to make you feel sick…but that’s probably the excess alcohol boiling in your body. Some people seem to be allergic to work of any kind and when you “really” are sick it’s always a sucky experience. Nobody likes to be sick…well besides matric students who want to avoid year end exams.
But what about our more metallic friends, the ones who run the conveyor belts and do the jobs us humans just don’t wanna do…what about our robots, surely they have feelings…on sub-electronic level, when they break does the silicone in their microchips feel it….it’s sad actually. So what do they do?
Let’s have a look at Rocky’s techno-tacular design called Doctor and Robot.
Turbine 5 in megastructure 77X has just shut down, the cooling fans from levels 2 to 200 have just stopped working and all the office workers are sitting in an environment not fit for any mortals.
<computer says> :-Maintenance robot is not responding..functions ceased at 12:00 with report of malfunction in pulmonary fuel cell:-
“Not again” cries the technician. It seems that poor maintenance robot (Manbot-577X to his friends) of Turbine 5 has had a faulty fuel cell for the past few months and he’s finally starting to crack….manning a turbine if hard work for a single robot…but he is a veteran. Better call out for the robo-doctor in Maintenance-maintenance.
Doctor and Robot shows us the intimate relationship between man and machine and just how intelligent the systems around us are becoming, it’s dangerous though, wait for the day that some idiot gives robots a personality and then it adapts, its happened in so many comics and movies I can even count…you never mess with a cyber-entity that is friends with the servers, power supply stations and knows a computer that knows a binary hack system that knows the weapon defence silos sister system
That’s asking for hurt.
So, all you bosses of the future out there, if you get a robot like poor Manbot-577X…make sure you look after him and get a doctor out to work on his fuel cells and anything else that isn’t clicking ticking or buzzing like it should pronto.
Rocky has once again made a wicked cool design that is original and downright uberusmaximus. Personal feelings on Doctor and Robot?
Duncs.
