Traxx opening

interesting

traxx.jpg Jeepers creepers! What a cracker jack of a night!

I attended the opening of Traxx night club in Durban this weekend and boy was I blown away. Durban is in serious need of a new party spot and the guys from Traxx have really given us Durbanites something VERY different!

After rounding up a few troops we headed down to Traxx not knowing what to expect. On arrival we were greeted with men in leather pants, wife beaters and boots.Definately not something we are used to, but hey an open mind is key! So after a few giggles we ventured into the club and were absolutely blown away. The sound system is just wow. I could feel my chest vibrating; I even saw some hardened clubbers with ear plugs during the course of the night! Ok, so I was amazed at the quality and sheer power of the sound system but what really blew me away were the lasers. Word has it that these guys spent big bucks on the lighting. Worth every cent in my mind.

As the night progressed the club really came to life. This was a totally new experience for me. The music got so hard it became filthy. The crowd came to life and pulled out all their dance moves. I seriously have to learn how to do the sprinkler and packing the boxes better because these clubbers have got it down! The funky dance floor opened a little later which is more my scene. Much more chilled, more upbeat and as the name suggests more funky. The choons the DJ was spinning were out of this world. Absolutely loved it.

The time came for us to leave and we couldn’t. This place casts a spell on you. It was a night filled with new experiences and events that I will never forget. Eventually at 6pm we called it quits and headed home absolutely finished. The guys from Traxx have really done well. This spot is a must see for anyone who likes having a good time. Trust me here, go check it out

2BOP 2B Design

New stock in Cape TownNew stock in DurbanTshirt of the Day

2b

Hey there friends.

Ok so I’m not exactly sure of the clothes you fill your closet with and of course I don’t want to step on any toes, but in all honesty I can’t stand high fashion labels that charge the earth for simple designs just because their bloody name is on it. It’s an old argument I know and its one that annoys many of us “smart shoppers” who would rather die than pay extra for something, especially when it can be found elsewhere for less.
The Tshirt of the Day from 2BOP has come up with a super cool design that really pokes fun at the brand name machine and all it stands for. We call this one simply 2B.

2B makes fun of a very well known design by Louis Vuitton (who I’m sure most of you will know), that was used for his luxury leather goods. Instead of the original symbols in the design, 2BOP has removed these and replaced them with very familiar gaming imagery.
As you may have seen from the last 2BOP Tshirt of the Day, they have an ultra retro gamer style to their designs. I love how they have managed to incorporate the two designs so well, absolutely hysterical.
The fact that it’s now covered in gamer thump pads and ninja stars is just classic stuff.

I will wear one of these loud and proud to support up and coming funky design and of course design that doesn’t try and strip your wallet of every copper piece inside.
Pay for originality, pay for funk. Don’t pay for blatant burnage and commercial hell, your soul will dissipate a little less.

Nice one 2BOP, I can’t wait to see what you will come up with next.
Remember don’t become a CK dolce and banana.

Peace out.

Duncs.

Design Indaba 2009

interesting

I heard some good things about the Design Indaba which was held in Cape Town last week.

And I couldn’t make it!

So my plan is Design Indaba 2009 – I’ve already marked it down in my planner!

The winner of the most “beautiful item of the year” was a multiple bunk bed – not just one bed but about 5 or 6 beds which fit into one another like one of those Russian dolls (where the dolls get smaller and smaller and fit into each other).
