Awesome Art by Jarvi

Hello All.

Today you are in for a real treat.
We have known about a fantastic artist for quite some time now and we think it’s about time we do a write up about this stellar dude and his jaw dropping art.
We recently had some of his artwork up in the store and the public went crazy for them.
We can’t wait to feature more of his pieces in store very soon.
Without further delay, here’s Jarvi.

Jarvi has been an artist for as long as he can remember. He says the first prize he ever won for his art was back in class 1 (grade 1) when the entire school (up to grade 7) had an art competition, he flattened the entire school scooping the prize and no doubt fuelling his artistic passion even more.

Jarvi’s style of art is mixed media as he’s never satisfied, his style is constantly evolving he doesn’t like to limit himself. The paintings of the ladies that are shown here are done with a mix of acrylic paint and a kind of “polyfiller” paste for texture. Ultra cool designs indeed.

Eran was down in Cape Town recently and put together a video interview where they bounced loads of interesting info about Jarvi, just so you guys could get a better idea of what he is all about.
I will post a clip of the video shortly.

There were still quite a few questions that I wanted to ask Jarvi for my own personal interest, but then the conversation seemed to turn into another interview LOL.
Here are a few weird and interesting questions I asked him.

Duncan: Tell me who are your greatest influences, who drives you to create the amazing work you do?
Jarvi: Firstly my girlfriend Tatum Kelly, who is undoubtedly the person who keeps me going. Otherwise the artists I really appreciate are guys like Buffy, who does amazing figures, Daim a brilliant graffiti artist from Germany who’s 3D perspective is insane.
I also appreciate local talent such as a guy called Ryiaan Weiner who goes by the alias Shinjuku.

Duncan: If you could get any message across to the world what would it be?
Jarvi: I’d like people to start seeing the world for what it truly is and to stop falling prey to Mass media propaganda blasted at us from the governments of the world. We are all the same people, no matter if we are black or white, racism is a tool used against us by the government in order to control us. We as humans are stronger than any government and should stick together instead of hating each other’s differences.
If you watch the documentary called Zeitgeist you will see what I’m talking about.
Duncan: I’m with you on that one dude.

Duncan: soaped1This is a Fight Club question. As you walk back further into your cave you see your “power animal” what is it?
Jarvi: Haha I’d probably have to say a lion or maybe a rhino. Maybe both, can we splice them? Call it a “Rhion”.
Duncan: Yeah let’s make a Chimera of the two, “Rhion”…I like that. So why those two animals?
Jarvi: Well I see the rhino as a symbol of inner strength, I’ve been through so much in my life and I’m still here, so yeah it’s appropriate.
As for the lion, well it represents a bit of a mask on my part, the male lion looks all ferocious and mean but for the most part just sits in the shade chilling all day, I’m a lion because I may seem rough and tough on the exterior but on the inside I’m a really relaxed kinda guy.

Duncan: Tell me an interesting fact about yourself that people wouldn’t know/expect.
Jarvi: Well I love the smell of onions on my hands and I find gardening really relaxing.
Duncan: Gotta love onions. So you also have a green thumb eh? Yeah I didn’t expect that.

Duncan: What is the most extreme thing you have done in the name of your art?
Jarvi: Well I was once hired by a school (no names mentioned) to do a huge 9 metre long mural in their assembly hall. When I tried to collect payment they started ducking and diving and never paid me.
So I arrived with a massive can of paint, walked straight past the security who were now used to seeing me there and then totally splashed the entire artwork with red paint. I walked out head to toe in paint and feeling very satisfied. It had to be done.
Duncan: Hahaha that’s classic. So the moral of the story is?
Jarvi: I now get paid 50% up front.

Duncan: Ok one last question, this time from Speed. You are on a bus…theres no breaks and its rigged to explode…what do you do hot shot? What do you do?
Jarvi: Enjoy the ride.
