Why are guys addicted to Video Games?

gamerpain

Guys dig video games!

There’s no doubt about it, the percentage of boys playing video games hugely overshadows the ladies. How often have you heard of girls getting upset because their boyfriends would rather “level up” than actually go out and party….it’s scary how many cases there actually are.
I remember watching a segment of Dr. Phil (AKA: Oprah’s bald henchman) last year that was all about relationships in trouble because of computer games.

Firstly I know that I have been guilty in the past of these crimes, when I was still in high school I had a girlfriend who lived close by and it was a real struggle to actually tear myself away from the computer and make the “arduous” journey to my girlfriends place…which was 5 minutes away. Yes Diablo 2 was highly addictive for me and indeed it stole a portion of my very soul.
Needless to say that girlfriend wasn’t stoked when she found out I was actually glued to my computer screen.
In the case of the Dr. Phil episode, there were actual marriages that were pretty much on the rocks because of video games that require loads of time to complete or participate in, such as MMORPG’s (
Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games) like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars.
These guys would hardly speak to their wives or little kids…look dudes there’s a time and a place, when you have more important responsibilities like being a husband or a father you have to grow up just a bit.
Unfortunately a lot of these guys actually do find “the game” more important.

Going green…is it real or just a fad?

gogreenThe idea of going green is catching on in a huge way internationally. Consumers, companies, governments and organisations have all realised that this is the way to go. Being green is in and everybody wants to be in. But, is this for real or is it just a fad?

Whenever we turn on the television we are confronted with all kinds of different messages from companies promoting the whole green concept. Celebrities punt it at every given opportunity and to be honest, I am getting tired of it.

We all know how influential celebrities are on the public. If they are promoting this for the right reason then I am all for it. However, if it is just a publicity act then I have a problem.

What are the consequences surrounding this concept? Are companies genuinely concerned about the environment or is it just a facade to bring in customers? When a company like Woolworths or Checkers starts promoting organic products, there is a reason to be sceptical. When Checkers announces its intent to sell organic food at lets say a 10% premium in price it will then without doubt go out and seek a producer of organic foods that is also mass-producing. That just doesn’t work. Basically going green means making the green stuff in your wallet…cash. Continue reading ‘Going green…is it real or just a fad?’

Graphic Playground Starwars

starwarshousework

Hey there all.

Many a time I’ve sat and pondered what life must be like for Han Solo and Chewie from Starwars when they are not flying the Millenium Falcon around the galaxy kicking the Empires ass.
What would “normal home life” be like for these saviours of the known universe?
Well according Graphic Playground things aren’t exactly how I had envisaged them LOL.
Check out Starwars Housework.

Strangely enough I always thought that Chewie would be the one who got stuck with all the crappy chores around the Resistance HQ, maybe it’s because he looks like a giant walking mop that he looks like he was designed for housework.
But no, it’s Han who is the one using the R2D2 vacuum cleaner function…the one wearing the so called “dress”…although that is a seriously old school description these days.
Who says MR. Charisma can’t get down and dirty and get the chores sorted out.
