Dont forget about the Springleap compos!

Hey there all you super designers.

So have you sent in your submissions for the various design competitions on Springleap.com?
This month there are so many awesome compos which are sure to get you lots of attention from all sorts of different social groups and companies.
So what’s happening?
Well besides the normal monthly Springleap competition, which is going MAD this month, there are also a host of competitions sponsored from all corners of the market.

First up is Louise Carver’s compo, where you get to design a t-shirt that you feel best suits her image and style, winners will get a ton of FREE Springleap stuff as well as Saved by the moonlight CD’s….very nice.
So time to pull out all the stops and get whimsical boys and girls J
The closing date for her comp is on the 30th of September…which is super dupa soon.

Want something a little more hardcore to design? Well say no more, TIMECODE records and Springleap have joined forces to bring you a design compo that can make you get your psychadelic funk on and come up with some waaay warped designs.
TIMECODE are known as one of the best (and most “out there”) trance labels around, so they are indeed looking for a t-shirt design that is different but still incorporates the TIMECODE logo.
That should be easy enough for you awesome designers out there in cyber space ;)
This one will be closing on the 14th of October.

Lastly we have the mega compo that is being sponsored by the mens clothing house of Markhams.
Create an insane Markhams inspired design on your own computer, or simply use our handy design program on the Springleap site…nobody has an excuse for this one, everybody can enter…even if they don’t have a super powerful computer sitting at home.
There is some big cash up for grabs everybody….like 5K, to be more precise.
The Markham competition is also set to end on the 30th of September…so put on those sprinting design shoes and get cracking.

Come on everybody, I really can’t wait to see what super cool designs you come up with.

Duncs.

One Small Seed in eSquared Cape Town

One Small Seed 12

Hi there all.

Undoubtedly most of you who are in love with Springleap and eSquared are designers or people who are just obsessed with cool and forward thinking design.
Another South African master of pop culture and who continually brings huge coverage to up and coming design talent is the magazine called One Small Seed.
I have personally always been a huge fan of One Small Seed as its always crammed full of original content and info that you would not in most cases get from other magazines of the type.
So it’s with much happy dancing that I announce that One Small Seed is our latest magazine in the Sea Point store.

So what makes One Small Seed such a good mag?
Well amongst other things the magazine is very well laid out and has an amazing design team.
These magazines are fantastic because, unlike other mags, you never want to throw them out….they are a great reference to designers and one of those items that lies on the coffee table and never goes out of date.
One Small Seed covers a vast array of pop culture topics…fashion, architecture, art, photography and even graphics.
There is something for everybody in this magazine, so if you are keen to check out some of the best movers and shakers South Africa has to offer come on in to eSquared Sea Point and grab the latest issue of One Small Seed.

Amarillo - Wooden Island

woodenisland

Howzit everyone.

Tshirt of the Day time again and this time I decided that we should take a look at a designer who has been making huge waves here on Springleap, he goes by the name, Amarillo.
The design I think we should have a look at today is the super weird…yet super cool design entitled Wooden Island, which has been causing lots of funny expressions on unsuspecting people’s faces.

As far as truly unique and spaced out designs go, Amarillo is probably the artist that I look forward to seeing the most. His work is always off at a tangent and either sends you into uncontrollable laughter or deep pondering coupled with much head scratching.
Wooden Island is a design that, in Amarillo’s mind, combines an island where the most important elements come together in one big mental mix.
So what 4 elements does Amarillo hold in highest regard?
Water, fire, airplane bird and hairdo, yes indeed he is one craaaazy dude, but it’s all part of the charm right?!

Springleap Sea Point Store Mural

Sea Point Store Mural

Greetings one and all.

Yesterday I mentioned that we have a new crew member for eSquared/Springleap called David and that he was doing some awesome concepts sketches for the outside of the store in Sea Point.
I took a snap shot of his design and thought today I’d stick it up for you all to see….so what do you think?

Quite a while back our store sign for eSquared got mauled by some serious Sea Point wind and we decided instead of replacing it with the same old design we would rather do something different.
We ran through a ton of different ideas ranging from hanging fabric banners (errr no) to graffiti.
After all was said and done, the graffiti idea is what worked best with us…we thought it would look young, funky and fresh.
We spoke to quite a few artists and got some ideas, we then had to wait for the building owners to “ok” the idea before we went ahead with it….which took frigging forever dude.
Luckily they said it was cool to go ahead, as long as we sent them an idea of what the design was going to look like, that where David stepped in and lent us his design power.
