Our resident painter has to deal with constant camera flashes and screaming fan girls….lol.
Well not quite yet, but maybe one of these days soon.
David has become quite well known in the area for his painting and bubbly attitude…which invokes an endless stream of admirers with lists of questions.
Davids constant painting of the outside mural here in Sea Point more often than not draws a crowd and attracts people to the store…which is all cool with me, because people that would not normally stop and take a pause from their busy lives to check out our awesome t-shirts, now have extra incentive to get curious.

Hi there one and all.
Amakipkip? What the heck is that….maybe the latest chakalaka dipping snack?
Nope, it’s actually a colourful popcorn snack that is very popular in South African townships…you must know the stuff….it’s actually damn yummy
This very fresh and funky clothing label was born right here in South Africa and aims at turning your more conventional African-esque styles on their head.
Amakipkip hails from Johannesburg and also has their flagship store situated in Rosebank at the Zone Mall.

Hi there all.
It’s a wonderful day (thus far), the sun is shining and the turtle is coming along splendidly.
I have attached a pretty up to date version of what’s been done so far.
It’s amazing how just a few lines here and there and a layer or two of paint can really make something take on a whole new form.
Yesterday Jade said that the design almost looked like it’s going to jump off the wall it was so real…today it’s even better.
Every time I walk past the turtle I worry that it’s going to try and bite my leg…shooo, scary snapping turtles aiiieeee

Greetings everyone.
Behold the evolution of our awesome Rocket Turtle.
This are really starting to look good now, the colour is looking pretty damn perfect and the size is also spot on.
Was I worried? NEVER!
As you can see from this picture the Rocket Turtle has gained quite a few extra layers of paint and really looks like it’s coming to life.
Dave has quite a time doing the colour just right because when the paint eventually becomes dry, it takes on a much darker colour…so yeah it’s becoming a bit of a pain in the rump.
I suppose the issue is a little like the print industry: what appears on screen can be worlds apart from what the final printed product looks like.
Nevertheless, things are looking ultra pretty at the moment and the next layer and black outlines are really going to make our Rocket Turtle look awesome.
It’s also quite interesting to see how much faster this design has taken than Video Games Rock.
There are many factors but I think Dave has started getting used to the paint as well as the terrible surface he’s painting on.
Its like when a water colour painter suddenly switches to oil and canvas….things won’t go smoothly until you get used to your new medium.
In Dave’s case his persistence has paid off J
Keep trucking Dave.
Duncs.
