The next ‘denim jeans’ of fashion

The next ‘denim jeans’ in fashion

When I was a kid the craze was all about bell bottoms. Does anyone remember those platform shoes that had a solid wedge of what could’ve been a brick as the sole? I remember them really well, but only because I never got a pair (my sister did though). The Spice Girls Scetchers range. OMW! What a hit!

When your grandmother is showing you photo’s of when she was young and you’re thinking “What the hell were you thinking?”! These fashions are now something of the past (thank goodness!), but I still can’t help wonder what our grandkids are going to think of us when they dig up the millions of long lost photo’s we’ve posted on facebook! Crazy hair, piercings galore, alien shades…

What fashion will be acceptable to them? Or will they be wearing a re-repeat of the old trends we’ve taken to the streets as fashionable classics? Unlike many things in our lives, history has repeated itself in fashion. Yes, there are cool new inventions and random ‘burger dresses’ popping up all over the web, but who actually buys that poo?

So I’d like to know from you all. What is the next big step in fashion? Does the possibility exist for something fashionably profound to evolve that could take over the popularity of legendary denim jeans?

Gimme a shout if you got sumthing to say!

Have a great weekend!:)

Jeremy Geddes paintings

Jeremy Geddes

I think it’s a fair assumption that I love art…well, considering I work with Springleap.com I’d say you have to have a certain measure of interest in art if you are going to keep your sanity.
I love good old fashioned paintings, especially impressionist artists from the 19th century who totally changed my outlook on what paintings really moved me.
There is also, quite a different side of the spectrum of paintings that I enjoy, and that is true realism (hyperrealism).

Perhaps I haven’t exactly hit the nail on the head when I say true realism, but by this I mean traditional painters who use their medium to create almost reality perfect paintings.
These guys are truly amazing and I marvel at their skill, it’s something that very few people can truly capture when using paint…to make a painting come alive and look like it’s a photo takes serious practice….and a talent handed to you from the gods themselves.

Recently I stumbled across the name of an artist called Jeremy Geddes whose paintings totally blew me away.
What I really love about this painter is that his work isn’t your average hyperrealism, it has a somewhat grittier feel and the scenes portrayed are heavy and action packed.
The way Jeremy Geddes is able to achieve such amazing and realistic textures is jaw dropping stuff, just take a closer look at his fabric and skin textures and you will see what I mean.

Wear did you get THAT from?

Garsh, the things people think of today! Fashion has without a doubt evolved from a primary survival essential into a form of expression. Clothing nowadays many cases fulfil a purpose to provide humour above practicality… although judging by some of the below pics that fact is definitely debatable! Take a look at these random clothing creations I stumbled across on Geekologie!
