I think it’s a fair assumption that I love art…well, considering I work with Springleap.com I’d say you have to have a certain measure of interest in art if you are going to keep your sanity.
I love good old fashioned paintings, especially impressionist artists from the 19th century who totally changed my outlook on what paintings really moved me.
There is also, quite a different side of the spectrum of paintings that I enjoy, and that is true realism (hyperrealism).
Perhaps I haven’t exactly hit the nail on the head when I say true realism, but by this I mean traditional painters who use their medium to create almost reality perfect paintings.
These guys are truly amazing and I marvel at their skill, it’s something that very few people can truly capture when using paint…to make a painting come alive and look like it’s a photo takes serious practice….and a talent handed to you from the gods themselves.
Recently I stumbled across the name of an artist called Jeremy Geddes whose paintings totally blew me away.
What I really love about this painter is that his work isn’t your average hyperrealism, it has a somewhat grittier feel and the scenes portrayed are heavy and action packed.
The way Jeremy Geddes is able to achieve such amazing and realistic textures is jaw dropping stuff, just take a closer look at his fabric and skin textures and you will see what I mean.
As far as I know Jeremy Geddes paintings are not altered at all by computer enhancement, of course I stand to be corrected on this point…it seems everybody and their dog is using Photoshop these days to tweak and fine tune their work…however this is cheating to be sure.
In order for your paintings to fall into the true hyperrealism category I feel that a traditional medium has to be used…I’m not saying using computer enhancement is easy, not at all, but to work from scratch and try your best not to make mistakes is something on a whole new level.
Heaven knows what Jeremy Geddes paintings go for as original pieces, however I believe you can buy his prints for $70 on his site, wanna scope out what prints are on offer? CLICK HERE.
There are so many fantastic painters out there who continue to carry the torch for the very first hyperrealist’s, Jeremy Geddes’ paintings stand as a testament to the continuation of this amazing art style.
If I come back in my next life with an artistic talent of note…I want THIS one J
Duncs.
