HI there all.
Here is one last message to bug you about Earth Hour, before you all go jolling on the weekend and forget.
This is an ultra important initiative so let’s join WWF and the rest of the world in showing our support of stopping global warming once and for all.
Everybody seems to be doing something different for Earth Hour, perhaps the most frequent party idea has been a braai (BBQ) with friends and family, because hey, all u need to do is a bit of prep before the lights go out and then it’s a super quick hour around the braai chatting before the lights kick in.
My buddies back in Durban are having a bonfire on the beach, which is always super fun and needs no artificial light at all…just good clean fun and perhaps a twist of crazy antics J
My girlfriend and I have vowed to put down the books and have a little romantic dinner at home, candle light and some nice snacks is a great combination for a superb evening.
If you are in Cape Town do yourself a favour and head down to the V&A waterfront where there will be a performance by the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as marimba group Ethnic Rhythm.
Another interesting fact about the concert is that all the power has been generated over the course of the week with solar panels and a bike generator challenge that started last night and will continue all through today….I reckon I will head down there after work and see how things are progressing.
Oh and when I mean bike generator I mean literally that, it’s a platform with a bunch of bikes that are connected to a generator that converts the pedalling into energy….sounds like some kind of mad scientist experiment hey?!
Earth Hour is going to be huge in Cape Town with loads of parties all over the place…no excuses to stay at home alone in the dark.
I hope that the rest of the major South African cities have something planned for Earth Hour, Cape Town seems to have pulled out all the stops.
Peace out and have a super duper weekend.
Duncs.
