T-shirt Culture- Trends and Evolution

Falling down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar abstract concepts and anthropomorphic springleap characters like ‘Alice’s adventures in Wonderland‘ is certainly what t-shirt culture is all about.

It’s an artistic world based on the minds of designers depicting their versatile styles and creative thought through design. A culture where t-shirt competitions and online design have become the latest trends for design lovers to showcase their talents to the world and be rewarded for it. I guess the international online t-shirt fashion buzz has created a really awesome platform for all designers. Lucky them.

All the original t-shirt designs is really awesome and I’m always flabbergasted by the unbelievable talent coming from designers. In South Africa Springleap.com is the BIGGESST and HOTTEST online fashion t-shirt competition and I really love the initiative.

So it seems like T-shirts have evolved into fashion statements of its own and all the different t-shirt designs makes it a really awesome and versatile garment. Celebrities seem to be ‘The T-shirt Trendsetters’ using their fame and charisma to capture the publics’ hearts. The various sub-cultures seem to loose there minds when they see their favourite celebrities wearing certain tees. However designers are of coarse the real magic behind all the fabulous tees worn by celebrities. Oh well I guess marketing t-shirts plays a major role in how popular a designer and their t-shirt designs are. What t-shirt brands are you most in love with and why? Do you think marketing played a major role or do you love the t-shirt because the design is actually fabulous?

This mornings’ thunder showers and lightning flashes really was fabulous to wake up to (winters back) and engage in my own artistic flavour- creating MUSIC. I may not be a designer but I sure am a hip hardcore dj that understands ART. However I use designers works of art like surrealism for inspiration

beauty and the beast

‘Beauty and the beast; Dissociative identity disorder’ is a surrealist WORK OF ART that I came across today and gosh is it BEAUTIFUL. The artwork has a dark sexual fantasy twist and creative satanic feel but can really inspire you with your next design, really awesome neosurrealismart.com

What t-shirt trends and evolutions are you into?

REMEMBER: working across all principles is the key to great design… Do you have what it takes to create your own movement similar to surrealism?

ALL OF THE BEST!!

Cheers

extreme t-shirt

extreme t-shirts

 Hi there all.

When you think of extreme t-shirts what is the first thing that comes to mind?
What constitutes an extreme t-shirt design??

I have to say when I ponder the idea of an extreme t-shirt I instantly think of the good ol Laugh It Off designs that are still floating around even after all this time.
Laugh It Off, as many of you will know, took very well known business logo’s and tweaked them in order to make them funny…or just downright rude.
I’m not sure I can even repeat some of the names that they came up with….this is a family site after all LOL.
One that I must mention is where they took the Black Label beer logo and transformed it into an extreme t-shirt design that said Black Labour, followed by white guilt underneath.
Ouch, that was quite a politically incorrect design if I must say so myself.

Art in fashion is booming

It’s amazing how art has crept into the world of fashion. I’m so glad it has, because the fusion of art in fashion has made me want to be a part of it.

Springleap.com embraces art in an unconventional way and t-shirt competitions are becoming a worldwide trend! By now you know the benefits of a website like Springleap.com are endless and it’s awesome that opportunities for designers are becoming so well known.

The topic of innovative art in fashion has got me really excited of late, because I keep coming across the most weird and wonderful artwork. Japanese artist Fumie Sasabuchi is no exception…

furnie-sasabuchi-fashion-zombie.jpg

Although her art sways from physical design on t-shirts and other apparel it carries a deeper message that ties in with art and fashion very mysteriously. Her work is pushing the ‘art in fashion’ envelope by giving it a totally different meaning.

Fumie re-works fashion photography from magazines into a scene of death. The fashion zombies she creates explores the boundaries of what is accepted in fashion in terms of typical Western culture by exploiting the flexibility of art in fashion.

What is gorgeous on the surface wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the beauty of anatomy. She shows us underlying beauty and fiddles with the concept of death. It’s creepy, but wonderful art! See more of her art in fashion at Artnet.com
