Well well well, it seems that our Pure Imagination competition closing date is upon us.
That means that all of you guys and girls out there that are rushing to submit a design in time had better seriously put foot, because today is the day.
Voting will start on the 7th of July and close on the 7th of August…which means you have a full month to get your family and friends to cause as much commotion about your design as possible. Remember it’s up to you as the designers to get the word out there and inspire, even total strangers, to vote for your super cool design.
The very lucky winners of the 2 bursaries for AAA School of Advertising will be announced on the 13th August.
South Park, still and will, I’m sure captivate a demographic of sick and twisted folk who enjoy revelling in those awkward, cringing social bloopers that affect us all. Saying that I have to say I LOVE South Park and think Matt Stone and Tray Parker deserve a little more than just the average Emmy. I’m thinking along the lines of a Noble Prize for conglomerated Cultural introspection? Saying that I’ll quickly move on before I really let loose on the bs.
South Park Fashion I’m sure is one of the subtle undertows that Matt and Trey use to convey meaning and understanding of culture to the average Joe. The focus of this blog is the fashion sense or lack thereof pertaining to our loveable characters Kyle, Eric, Stan and Kenny. Its’ all a matter of opinion, man!! Granted, most of the time our animated friends wear exactly the same gear but there is the odd encounter with a sophisticated and well mannered Eric Cartman or a dark and attitude laced ‘punkie’ Butters. The boys stay in South Park, a town that’s supposed to be modelled on a Colorado town in the late 1800’s, and gets rather chilli so they’re warmly dressed in their winter woollies pretty much all the time.Continue reading ‘South Park Fashion’
Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson!
It seems that this weekend we were heavily bombarded by tributes to the King of Pop and his mysterious demise.
I hope that everybody is not sick of hearing about the man and all the differing theories on his death and more importantly, his life.
There is however one topic I’d like to touch on about Michael Jackson which I’m sure most of you will agree on…his outlandish fashion sense.
Michael Jackson fashion has most certainly changed the way we view fashion extremes.
When he first came onto the scenes he was cruising around in bell bottoms and frilly shirts…wow, do you remember the gear he used to wear, it makes his more “well known” fashion trends seem like year 3000 hyper-couture LOL.
However as his popularity grew and he branched away from his family his fashion style evolved at a rapid rate.
What was it that made him wear such outrageous fashion styles?
Was it merely a product of the decadent 80’s, was it an attempt to break the boundaries of popular fashion…or was it all art, purely?
Sun, Sounds and Friends. Got your attention? Sound like a good time?
The lucky fish music festival 2009 will be running from the 3rd to the 6th September. This year the festival will be held at the Route 28 Resort in Jagfontein, which is a new venue that the Authentic Projects team is trying. Sounds like the middle of nowhere, but I’ve been assured it’s just South West of Johannesburg and better yet you don’t have to leave a tarred road to get there.
Current line-up includes Parkway Drive, Cutting Jade and New Found Disorder. Cutting jade and New Found Disorder are both local bands from Pretoria and Johannesburg respectively doing very well in the local music scene. With Parkway Drive being the only international band yet announced, they come from Australia and have practically taken over the Heavy Hardcore scene. A five-piece of awesome power and charisma, they have caused a storm in their homeland that is without precedent. I’ve been informed that Parkway Drive will be playing on the Friday night but is still subject to the digression of the event organizers. Watch the Authentic projects home page for details as many more bands are also supposed to be joining the line-up.
It seems the event is geared up to be a huge success and will be well kitted out with Food stalls, bars, and games. With plans for little games and such for the kiddies, parents are welcomed to bring their little ones. Kids under 10 are free as long as they’re accompanied by an adult. You can check out the festival details here.
