3D Animation is a design art that has taken off in the last few years and has totally revolutionised the way visual arts/media are created. South Africa is teeming with design talent in this field, however we see more and more of our talented men and women leaving our shores for greener pastures overseas, where it is much more likely for them to find jobs and make a make on the industry they love. Unfortunately it seems that the money just isn’t there when it comes to 3D animation in South Africa.
However one animation project that did take off in a big way and will was showcased on American television by none other than HBO, was Magic Cellar.
This was one heck of a step for Saffa kind.
The summer season is surely almost upon us now. In fact I have even had the delight of wearing board shorts for the very first time this season….happy days are here again. About a week ago I commented on not only Billabong’s new board shorts, but also their closest competitor Quiksilver.
There are of course a million different companies who all do their own range of baggies. However I seem to be stuck very much in the surfer mentality of board shorts having to come from a trusted surf brand.
Am I just being dilly??
I suppose its conditioning on my part, that is, self-conditioning and media influence. I can’t fathom guys who show up at the beach wearing brands that have their place in other sporting spheres….or from areas that have absolutely nothing to do with the beach. I can forgive people that don’t actually live by the beach, because…well hey, what do they know about it anyway….I don’t profess to know anything about safari attire or hanging out at mine dumps. I’d probably walk around Kruger Park in my baggies and slops and get strange looks from foreign tourists armoured up head to toe in khaki.
