World Cup football stadiums

Stadium Latest

Greetings one and all.

The other day my girlfriend and I looked out of our apartment window and saw a huge glowing light in the distance. What could it be? A huge mothership, has the Saviour has returned? Nope it’s the Green Point Football stadium, with its lights turned on. While the Durban stadium is still my favourite of the World Cup football stadiums, I have to say that the Green Point stadium is slowly growing on me.

The World Cup football stadiums are all pretty much nearing the final stages of their construction. It’s been a long journey, but the hard work, blood, sweat and tears, has finally paid off. We cruised up to Signal Hill to get a better look of the Cape Town football stadium and were totally gob smacked by how freaking cool it looks.
It actually does look as if a frigging alien ship has landed in the Mother City….District10 perhaps LOL.

While I have mentioned that the Durban stadium gets my top pick of the stadiums, I really have to say that the Cape Town stadium is pulling in at a firm second place. The glowing bowl of AWESOMNESS….that is what we should call it. Those slick curves at first put me off, but the irregularity of it is now what I love the most about it. I almost feel bad originally calling the stadium something that looked like a “flopped cake in the oven”.

The Durban stadiums killer arch is the only thing that separates these two World Cup football stadiums. However, the next step is to see how the overall areas are finely tuned. I’m talking about the footpaths, roads and secondary infrastructure. Will it all be ready in time? Shooo, the Cape Town site still looks a bit primitive in its completion. I’m sure that everything will come together in the end, but jeez how they like to hold us in suspense.

Look at these 2 beautiful picks of the Cape Town football stadium. Seriously this is a new South African landmark, which we can all be proud of.

Duncs.
