Greetings friends.
Recently I wrote a blog about incorrect theme submissions to the Springleap.com competition. First off, it happens….I guess it’s just going to keep happening until everyone is 100% on our new competition model.
I’m happy to announce that were much fewer incorrect theme submissions for The Living Dead competition.
Only one or two!
Please understand I am not just trying to rip these artists off. Rather I’d like to showcase designs that may be overlooked, because people instantly shun them because of their incorrect theme.
These designs will obviously not win the competition if they are of the wrong theme, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get a bit of the limelight here on eSquared.
So, here they are in all their glory!
The first noticeable design was UFO by SuperJman. It’s a cool little design, which smacks of a distinctively South African flavour. UFO’s over Johannesburg seem to be quite the thing these days, especially after District 9 did so well at the box-office. Some may argue that SuperJman’s design is rather “amateurish”, which I suppose from a technical standpoint it is. That doesn’t mean that it’s the end of the road for this designer. Submitting to Springleap.com is a learning curve and hopefully the community will be good enough to give artists such as SuperJman some positive feedback and help him grow.
The next design that ended up in the wrong competition is Bentos, with his submission entitled Robot Invasion 2. Yep, the title of the design says it all. The Living Dead are prone to invading…but they usually work without the help of robots ![]()
This design is a clear case of incorrect theme submission. The worst thing about this submission is that it is actually damn cool. I’m a huge fan of doodle style character design and this one is up there with the coolest of the cool. In the case of Bento’s submission, it should definitely be resubmitted at a later stage, into a theme competition that is more fitting for the material.
Bentos….you know what to do fellow.
Alright thats about it. I told you it was a very short list of incorrect theme submissions…yay.
Pretty soon these type of designs going into the wrong competitions will be a thing of the past.
Peace out to everybody who has submit designs. But please everybody, be 100% certain what competition you are entering before you click send…or of course, spend loads of time on a design that won’t be appropriate for the compo.
Laters taters.
Duncs.
