I’m a sad little teenage vampire….pass me a tissue, while I glisten here in the sunlight like a Studio54 pole dancer.
Yep, it’s finally here. The second instalment in the Twilight franchise entitled New Moon, has finally hit the box office. I honestly was not a fan of the first movie, I thought it was weak and watered down…basically an insult to real vampires everywhere. So what does New Moon bring to the table, in order to elevate it above the swill of the first movie?
The simple answer to this seems to be…nothing.
First off, I have as yet NOT seen New Moon, so I cannot give you my own untainted opinion. However, from what I have been hearing online, its 130 minutes of painful teenage kaka. I’m interested to get the opinion of fans who have actually read the books. When I watched the first movie and told somebody who was a fan of the books, that I thought it was pretty terrible. They bounced back with the usual repugnant statement that “the books are sooooo much better”. Yeah well that goes without saying for 90% of movies based on books. I have been told by the same peeps that the books get better and better and much more exciting. Fair enough. But according to the reviews the movie has no base and its pretty much a rehashed love triangle story between a human, werewolf and vampire.
Shut off from the world around you…the mind starts to twist…the mind starts to revert to a more primal state.
What would happen to you if you were cut off from the world you know, by an invisible force? Panic, fear, shock….all rolled into a big ball of paranoia.
This is the premise of the latest novel by horror writing genius Stephen King. Under the Dome has arrived in a bookstore near you….just in time for a bit of Christmas terror.
Under the Dome is set in the quiet country town of Chester’s Mills in Maine. On a seemingly normal day an invisible force field surrounds the town, cutting off the townsfolk from the rest of the world. The force field is impenetrable. Cars and planes crash into it and explode on impact.
A small rag-tag group of citizens team up to try and find out what is going down, but they are blocked by a strange politician who is bent on retaining his power…even in the face of insane incidents.
Time for the citizens is runningout Under the Dome itself…how long will they last? How long before they all go insane and start turning on each other? If I know Stephen King…not very long!
