Greetings all.
Controversy YEAH!
There are few things in this world that draws attention, quite like controversial t-shirts. Indeed, we at Springleap.com have had our fair share of t-shirts that have raised eyebrows and even elicited scorn.
What can I say, if you don’t have a sense of humour, best stay at home.
There are a myriad of controversial t-shirts out there these days, but only a few are worth the cotton they are printed on. Springleap. Com, being a family competition, does not have a huge amount of controversial t-shirts, but here are my top 2.
The very first controversial t-shirt that springs to mind is the amazingly intricate What would Godzilla Do? design by TokyoGoGo. This design shows a mega-sized Jesus rampaging through some hapless city, whilst out looking for groceries. Goodness this one definitely set off the more sensitive types. Which I suppose is understandable, considering the religious content.
While yes, this is not a design to wear to church, it is still a very unique and well thought out design. There is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the most controversial t-shirts on Springleap.com, if not from any South African competition to date.
Last up we have eSempowenis by Wolfox. Yep our African Simpsons design really caused a ruckus with some buyers, who thought it was a tad stepping over the line. In my personal opinion I think it’s an amazing t-shirt that takes a popular cartoon and makes a very effective parody. This design is not meant to be taken seriously. It’s supposed to be fun. I think people need to sometimes step back and laugh at our world and its many cultural differences, before getting all bent out of shape. With this being said, there is always handful of people who just can’t take a joke….I suppose you can’t win with everybody. eSempowenis will most certainly stay at the top of our most controversial t-shirts list.
There is no doubt a calling for controversial t-shirts. People always feel the urge to wear designs that express their political or socially viewpoints….or just cause trouble LOL.
As I said we are a family competition here at Springleap.com, which means we are not out to create designs that disturb or disgust people. In fact we are very selective over what design are allowed onto the site. There are a few however, like the ones mentioned above, that just can’t be left out.
Duncs.
