High flying acts, strong men, beautiful dancing ladies and great food! This pretty much sums up the amazing evening the Springleap.com team shared last night at Cape Town’s newest supper theatre Vaudeville.
I knew that the theatre is set up in the Burlesque tradition, but I was still surprised by the top notch performance and unique setting.
If you like to laugh, sing and applaud, all whilst gorging on scrumptious food…look no further.
We arrived to a glass of bubby and friendly Vaudeville staff. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, expectations were high and you could see that everyone was eager to see the performances.
As many will know The Fez Club, which is well known by Capetonians, has reopened in conjunction with Vaudeville. The Fez’s Moroccan style melds wonderfully with the decadent bohemian style of Vaudeville.
The vaudeville theatre isn’t quite as big as I thought it would be, especially considering it’s a 300 seater. However, this means very little, because the overall size works well in creating an intimate setting, which helps to immerse you in the action.
Every now and then a design comes along that really makes me smile.
While the We Wrock Wright by Dotnot, is really funny and also intricate, it is also funny for a different reason.
The reason has to do with Star Trek!
Don’t laugh just yet…wait till you hear what I have to say
This is percieved design.
Ok at first glance we take a squizz at the design. It is really awesome and the illustration is not bad at all.
Next we take a look at the characters, the so called Wright Brothers…all good right?
Then why does the brother on the left look like Captain Picard of the Enterprise.
Aiiieeee is it possible. Did Picard come back from the future to help spur the development of the human race, by posing as a Wright brother? Anything is possible in Star Trek my friend!
Every now and then I hear a bit of movie related news that makes my hair stand on end. When I heard that the Spiderman 4 movie was underway, I had to shake my head and plead to the heavens WHY?
Seriously, in case you watched an entirely different movie, you had to know that Spiderman 3 was an absolute washout.
It’s amazing just how easy it is for Hollywood to destroy a comic book classic.
I have to say I was pretty surprised that Tobey Maguire decided to make a return in Spiderman 4.
So why should I be surprised that he is back? Well, for starters, he said he wouldn’t do another after the 3rd, unless everyone from the original movies was back on board, which I suppose means good things. However, after the Spiderman 3 made a mockery of our “friendly neighbourhood Spiderman”, one has to wonder, how can they stuff it up any more than they already have?
