35 nations top picks

The whistle has blown, kick off begins for the 35 Nations of FootballRIGHT NOW!!!!

That’s right all you design fans out there, the much anticipated truly worldwide powered football design competition has just begun. After the amazing winner for the Down The Rabbit Hole was announced, we knew that it was going to be a very hard show to top. Indeed we had triple the amount of design entries from the previous competition…so there already you have less design ability to top the last compo. How will we be able to crack the job done by Nicetomeetyou? Well for starters Nicetomeetyou has entered a submission into this competition, which looks amazing. So there already we may have chance J
Here are my 35 Nations top picks!

A Very Important Date! t-shirt design preview by Nicetomeetyou at Springleap[dot]com

Hi there guys and girls.

Its official, we have a winner!
Our highly anticipated winner of the Down The Rabbit Hole competition has finally been announced and to my utter happiness its one that I really, really wanted.
Three cheers to David (AKA: Nicetomeetyou) for the ultra stunning design A Very Important Date.

Yes indeed, today is a good day! I was so overjoyed when I discovered that my top choice for the Down The Rabbit Hole competition came in first place. I’ve been dying to have this t-shirt in my collection ever since I laid my eyes on it. I just totally dig all the elements, from the super cool unique Mr. Voodoo Rabbit design, to the great minimal selection of colours.
I’m also very proud to say that Nicetomeetyou hails from South African shores. Yup, he’s a local boy keeping us on equal toe to toe status with the powerful international crew. We need more artists like this to enter. Can we keep this South African winning design streak going? This makes it what….4 in a row I think?

It’s not very often that such a well balanced design comes along and also walks away with the win. I was worried that some people would not like the darker look of A Very Important Date, because as you can see it’s rather on the macabre side. This design can’t make it to the shelves soon enough my friends…I’m literally gonna tear open the delivery box like a savage kid on Christmas morning.

I love you Mr. Voodoo Rabbit LOL….don’t be late, get to Sea Point soon.

Ok now that we have drooled over A Very Important Date, I guess it’s time to look to our next competition, 35 Nations of Football. Can you guess who has made a submission for this competition as well? You got it Nicetomeetyou doesn’t hesitate to bring the power with another thrilling design…scope out his Diski Warriors design…it’s very good! In fact it’s so bloody good that we may have a two-in-a-row win for this talented South African designer. WOWZERS!!!!

Duncs.

J&B Met

J&B Met

And they’re off!

I have some great news for horse race fans, gamblers and fashion gurus’ alike. The Cape Town J&B Met is hitting us this Saturday (30 January 2010)at the Kenilworth race course. It’s time to prepare yourself for all the sparkly people in their fine attire and the thundering sound of some of the strongest thoroughbred racing horses on earth.
Giddy? Yup! :D

Obviously the J&B Met is all about the horses, their jockeys and of course the illustrious first prize. However, as with most aspects of Capetonian life, it seems fashion has infiltrated on such a grand scale that it overshadows the racers themselves, which in my book is a bit sad! Look I’m not expecting them to interview horses or anything lol, but still, I’d like to see more programs featuring the horses and their background. Maybe it doesn’t interest that many people, but I’d like to get the full low-down on the stock, breeding and eccentricities of all the horses. On the same token it doesn’t seem like anybody knows anything about the jockeys. I couldn’t tell you a damn thing about the jockeys, but only which horses will be running. I reckon that is a pretty kak aspect of horse racing in general.

The Dangerous Book for Boys

The Dangerous Book for Boys

Yep it’s dangerous…seriously dangerous in fact!

More than a year ago my girlfriend and I were looking for the perfect gift for my cousins baby shower. We saw the list of items that most people would be bringing and raised equally impressive quizzical eyebrows. Dude, we seriously wanted to give them something a little bit more unique than baby comforters and pram accessories…seriously. Strangely it was exclusive books that gave us the best solution to our conundrum. Enter The Dangerous Book for Boys by Conn and Hal Iggulden.

Obviously it helps knowing if the newborn is going to be a princess or a frog, but with our knowledge the little Aidan was indeed going to be a chap we decided the Dangerous Book for Boys would be the ultimate gift that would just keep on giving. The original book is a huge lovely red hardback which is loaded with everything from fascinating facts to astounding techniques on how to get through life. Every young boy needs one of these books, hell I’m convinced Aidan’s dad will read it more than he will.
