There is quite a bit happening at Springleap.com at the moment in regards to theme competitions. While Battle of the Best has drawn to a close and the voting has started on Faces of Africa, we still have two other active compos, that being the Us competition and the Advanced Photoshop theme.
These current competitions are both mammoth in their own right and both are unique in what they offer.
As far as the current competitions go the Us theme competition is a real chance to not only create the very first branded Springleap.com design, but also enables you design the possibility of becoming a part of our very own website makeover later this year. Imagine how cool it would be that whenever somebody opens our page that your design is the first thing they see. Honestly that is professional exposure that doesn’t come around very often….in fact as far as I’m aware I have never known a competition that has two such equally amazing prize potential. I know that many designers, especially the past winners who have been focusing on the Battle of the Best have not had much time to sink their teeth into the Us theme competition, however the good news is that we have decided to extend the competition until the 9th of March.
Yes thats right all you designers out there, you still have a good few days to submit a design that will change the very aesthetic of Springleap.com and become iconic….just imagine all the positive exposure and job possibilities that will arise from this competition WOW!!!!
In my last posting you would have seen that we have already selected our winner for the Battle of the Best, which went to Sebasebi’s stunning Mr. Cosmos design.
While that massive compo has ended it is now time to look ahead and discover the talent that will become our new Battle of the Best winner. The talent for our latest competition is no less amazing, so scope out my Faces of Africa top designs.
My first choice has to be Jabanero’s new design Biko is beautiful. Many of you who were involved with the 35 nations of Football theme competition will be familiar with his submission entitled Gale Force Football. While he didn’t win that competition his design was still very popular and narrowly missed out on the win. This time around however Jabanero has almost definitely assured himself at least a spot in the top 5. He has two similar variations of his Biko is beautiful design. One in the shape of Africa and the other, which I have added to this blog, is the shape of a baobab tree. Both of them are simply stunning and deserve to win this compo.
Biko is such a well known leader in the struggle against apartheid, that I am certain that this design will rise to the top with little difficulty. Biko is beautiful is a superb design with great text detail and an iconic Biko face that just seems so stalwart and determined.
If this design doesn’t win I will be pretty surprised….well either one of Jabanero’s Biko inspired designs that is.
The biggest baddest theme competition in Springleap.com history has just drawn to a close. I must send out a HUGE congratulations to our winner Sebasebifor his simply stellar design Mr. Cosmos!
It is very rare that a design this good comes along and I’m proud to have it amongst the ranks of our t-shirt designs.
Sebasebi has really grown in leaps and bounds since his first Springleap.com submission. He originally won our Enviro Mental theme competition with his rather different Post-Apocalypse design. However, you honestly can’t put his previous winner and his Battle of the Best submission in the same group, they are just soooo far apart in terms of design power.
This was one heck of a closely contested competition. Sebasebi had to fight off a multitude of amazing designs. Honestly speaking some of us at HQ have even spoken about trying to get some of the other designs printed. While Mr. Cosmos is the most deserved winner, we should not shut out potentially amazing designs, especially from a competition that is jammed full of the best Springleap.com has to offer.
There were so many designers who had the potential of being our Battle of the Best winner.
As I mentioned in a previous blog, It will be difficult for Sebasebi to top such a freakingamazing design, but we sure hope that he tries to out-do himself very soon. If we had more designs like this the entire world would stand up and take notice!
Yeah unfortunately the wax is definitely off on this one guys and girls.
When I heard they were remaking the Karate Kid franchise I was a little surprised. I mean how do you take a movie that is so well loved and respected and then suddenly make it better. Why remake it at all?
Obviously money and @sshole5 in suits are to blame as usual…but another culprit is Will Smith.
Yep thats right the new Karate Kid is being produced by Will Smith….the main character, his son Jaden Smith….SERIOUSLY! Nepotism at its finest Mr. Smith!
I am seriously appalled that the amazing Karate Kid is being rehashed and destroyed in order to act as a “star vehicle” for his son Jaden. I can only hope that it does as much for Jadens career as it did for Ralph Macchio….oh wait now he plays in Ugly Betty, ouch!
Anyway besides the obvious crapola of having his own son play the main star, it seems that the story itself borrows bits and pieces from the original, but should actually be looked upon as a totally different story. They use the name of the original Karate Kid as a “vehicle” to pump the hype…nice one Hollywood losers.
While the original movie was shot in the States, the new movie is centred around Jaden’s character who is living in China. Another key stuff up is that the boy is learning kung-fu, dude, that has nothing to do with Karate. Seriously is there no depth these buggers are willing to sink to?
