Firstly let me send a big shout out to all of you who came to say hi at the Design Indaba over the weekend, it was great to see so many avid Springleap.com fans in one place.
It really did seem like a mad house, our little tent was overwhelmed with people looking for designs in their size. I trust you all got what you were looking for?
It was absolutely crazy busy the entire weekend. I came through on the Sunday hoping that it would have quietened down a little….no such luck, it was shoulder to shoulder at some points. I can only imagine how busy it must have been on Friday and Saturday, insane. I take my hat off to the Springleap.com team who were on hand to spread our design philosophy and attend to questions from the public. Well done to you all, I know it couldn’t have been easy.
It sounds like a few of the designers popped in to say howzit as well. One of our mega designers TokyoGoGo was also around and managed to pop in and say hi to the Friday night team. Also Chad Lesch was also around the Design Indaba, but of course he had his own stand. The creator of our well loved Afrolution design, Souf, was also around to give his support. I’d like to give my thanks to these gentlemen and all the other designers who made an appearance.
Engrish.com is a little glow of happiness that makes my day brighter when I’m feeling down in the dumps. It doesn’t matter how bad a mood I’m in, after I have been on this hilarious site I can smile again.
This is not the first time I have spoken about Engrish.com on this site, however every now and then I like to refresh people’s memories, so that they remember that there is hilarious solace out there if you just have the inclination to look.
While some prefer looking at cute LolCat jokes, I prefer the ultimate hilarity of misspelt English in various forms from Asia. Its honestly amazing at how many Asian companies don’t have some kind of English spell check, or even somebody to check their translations for them….I reckon it would be my dream job to fix aberrations of language all day long. I’d go home smiling and with a stomach cramp from laughing!
There is an endless list of Engrish.com pictures! We are talking anything from normal photo snaps of a sign that doesn’t make sense, to totally botchedproduct content.
I have stuck 3 examples of Engrish in my blog picture, if it’s too small to see shoot across to the Flickr page.
It even happens here in SA! My local Chinese restaurant has a sign on the door that says, “you may like at home”. Obviously they are trying to say that you should treat their restaurant like you are at home, but the execution went out the window. I absolutely love that sign and it always makes me smile!
