How about this one…nono wait this one this one!
I find it interesting that designers on Springleap.com submit multiple designs with similar design content.
There are a whole host of reasons that a designer does this on our website, but the main reason is still when they come back after tweaking the design and input it into a different competition that fits the theme.
However, in the case of Jabanero’s two Biko inspired designs it’s a little different.
Design content is in most cases a reworking or a tweaking, like I mentioned above. Jabanero however has two different designs featuring the Apartheid struggle leader Biko in the same competition.
I have mentioned this design already in my top picks for the month, but was so impressed with both his Biko is Beautiful and Black is Beautiful design that I felt that I should give them both a mention.
I just can’t seem to decide which one of these stunning designs I like best, which is why I gave them both a full 5 vote. It seems that the feedback has been really positive for Jabanero’s new Biko designs. In fact, I have a rather strong feeling that one of these two designs will win the competition. Yes there are a whole host of cool designs for the Faces of Africa theme competition, but I just feel that none are executed quite so well as these two entries. I don’t usually fall in love with designs that share the same design content. I feel that they are just a cheap way to submit multiple entries. However in the case of Jabanero I feel as if both designs have their own unique qualities that make them special.
There can only be one winner and unlike other competitions if two designs share the same content it is impossible for them both to be printed. While yes, we only have one competition winner, we sometimes talk about printing one or two of the runner-ups….if they are truly deserving of a print run. However if the design content is so strikingly equal, there is nothing we can do. In this regard the face of Biko is just too iconic and powerful to be accepted as two printable works….which is a huge HUGE pity in my opinion.
While Black is Beautiful has such an awesome afro-funk vibe, the Biko is Beautiful design looks brilliant with the form of the tree….how to choose a winner between the two, it’s seemingly impossible. However the voters will have to take the responsibility in this regard!
Well done to Jabanero for two jaw dropping designs….I’m loving your work sir!
