Stars and stripes!
Many of you who are into the superhero movie genre will know that there has been a great deal of speculation over who will play the role of Captain America.
Likewise I have had absolutely no idea either, until this morning I found mention of the list of names that are in the running to take up the role. After carefully looking at the actors I have to say that I’m a touch perturbed…aren’t I always muhahaha.
Ok, so looking at the list of actors, as always, they pick a variety of soft faced pretty boys…it seems to be the trend these days. This honestly gets up my nose because I would much prefer a “real man” to fill the shoes of Captain America. Look I’m not saying that Captain America should be some kind of brute that says very little but likes to stomp on Nazis’. I’m aware that there is an ever increasing horde of female fans who love super hero movies and obviously the casters need to pick a guy that is going to make the girls swoon.
I have looked over the entire list and have decided that I only really like 1 of the actors…from various blogs across the web it seems that my choice wasn’t listed as a favourite even once…which I find surprising actually, but hey maybe there is something that these other bloggers know that I don’t….or maybe they are hype pumpers for various actors…don’t think it’s not true boys and girls, actors are the same as any other product that needs positive marketing strategies.
Here is the list of candidates for the role of Captain America:
1. Michael Cassidy (Smallville)
Yeah I have never really heard of this actor, although I believe he has played a minor character in Smallville….errr yeah, nuff said.
2. Garrett Hedlund (Eragon)
Well another relatively unknown actor, who was nominated for a Choice Breakout Movie Star Award. You may remember he was one of the characters from Eragon who tried to get Eragon trained up as a warrior. Not sure about him playing the role of captain America though, this is a BIG maybe choice for the role.
3. Mike Vogel (Cloverfield)
LOL you may remember his character from Cloverfield as the one who gets totally obliterated on the bridge scene. Yeah, I really don’t know much else about this fellow….so he is another wildcard in my opnion.
4. Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights)
I’ve only seen bits and pieces of the Friday Night Lights series. Scott played Jason, the promising American football player that ended up paralyzed…sad stuff. Hmmm, not such a bad actor, has quite a bit of potential…so we will just have to wait and see.
5. John Krasinski (The Office)
This actor played the role of Jim in the American version of The Office. He’s a rather funny looking fellow and my absolute last choice for the role of Captain America.
6. Chace Crawford (The Covenant)
What did they call him in The Covenant? They called him The baby or little brother….something like that. Mega baby faced actor, just simply too clean cut and aaahhhhh cute for the role.
7. Patrick Flueger (The 4400)
Ok, so I saved the best of the picks for last. Patrick played the role of Shawn in the awesome sci-fi series The 4400. I really enjoyed his character and I feel that he has a good look for Captain America. He is a bit of a pretty boy, but he still has a manliness to him, which could really suit a young Captain America. He also has a slightly gruff voice if memory serves, which will also help give The Captain a bit more phonic strength 
So there we have it, the Captain America candidates.
I will give you the rundown for the movie itself at a later stage…I have already read a bit of a spoiler in regards to the Captain America movie. I was a bit perturbed about how they were going to tackle the storyline, but after reading the spoiler I’m actually feeling a bit more confident that the movie could be a success.
