Hi there one and all.
I never thought I’d write a blog on this subject, but hey, here is a blog about bad banking.
Ok, so we have all had sucky experiences with the band. They overcharge us with ridiculous service fees and lead us to believe that they are really our friends….lol. No, no, friends don’t usually hold onto your money and deceive you…just do what you are supposed to, don’t mess us around and help OUR money grow…simple as that.
Anyway that aside, when I talk about bad banking, I’m actually talking more about the fact that I had a bad experience with one of the FNB ATM’s the other day.
If you are in the Sea Point are and use the ATM at the Checkers you will know exactly what I’m talking about. Recently they must have changed the software because they have a new “idle” screen that pops up whilst waiting for a human to put in their card. I’m not sure why, because FNB’s colour scheme is blue and orange, but for whatever reason it displays a full red screen…bad banking!
Now you may be asking who cares, right? The fact of the matter is that my girlfriend and I walked up to the ATM and all we saw was a red screen….so we both naturally curse our bad luck and started walking away. I took a few steps and looked back and then saw some colour at the bottom of the screen, so I turned around and let out a little wtf sigh. Whilst walking back the “normal” FNB screen popped up….but seriously, only after a good wait. I mean I’m usually on the ball with noticing things like this, but even this ATM eluded by Holmes power of electronic device deduction.
It’s not like this is rocket science, seriously. The designer in charge of this FNB ATM display screen should get a good rap on the knuckles for such a twit move. I’d also like to know why they decided to use a full red back ground! Not only is it the colour of one of its major banking competitors, but it is also the universal colour for error or warning. If you see a big red screen what are you going to think? Certainly not that everything is A-ok!
FNB please revise your atrocious new ATM idle screen, it leaves much to be desired and must be annoying the general public to no end. It amazes me that this can be implemented by a company as big and as loaded as FNB…you should be able to afford not only the best designers…but also the best design “checkers” as well LOL.
FNB this is bad banking at its finest….heck we aren’t even in one of your banks and nothing makes sense.
Fix please!
D.
