Ello ello all u Leapers out there!
This blog has a two-fold function!
First: I want to highlight an awesome new submission for the Faces of Africa design theme competition called Freedom Walker by none other than design master Tu.
Second: talk about design that may have potential beyond t-shirt design.
Ok so first off Tu’s new design Freedom Walker! Unfortunately we had a small glitch on the backend and this fabulously awesome design only appeared for voting almost a day late. Hopefully this won’t reflect on the votes, because I know quite a few members hit the voting page as soon as it goes up.
This seriously funky design borrows the idea of the well known Johnnie Walker branding and transforms it into a truly South African design which suits Face of Africa down to the ground.
This design has mega potential and even though it is a late entry I feel that it could go all the way for the win…in fact if it had been posted sooner when I did my voting it would have ended up on my Top Picks for the compo list.
Not only does Freedom Walker speak of the days of Apartheid and the struggle against oppression, which is very “in theme”, but it also has awesome design power and a wicked choice of colours.
All in all this is probably one of the best designs from Tu in ages….and the rest of his designs rock, so u know this one must be extra special.
The next subject I’d like to talk about is the ability for a Springleap.com design to transcend being simply a t-shirt and actually have potential to become something totally different.
Just looking at Freedom Walker it’s obvious to see what this design has the potential to become! Thats right, an absolutely killer pair of sneakers. The sneaker design itself looks like a half afro, half Bape classic.
Seriously if Bathing Ape saw this design he would probably go monkey poo over it.
Maybe one day we at Springleap.com will also be into the sneaker business. If we do this is one pair of sneakers that needs to become a reality without doubt.
I would love it if you all would pop across to Springleap.com and give Tu’s submission your vote recognition. If you don’t like the design thats is also fine, just please give it your vote love. Here is the LINK to the Freedom Walker page.
Peace out.
D.
