Halo Warthog

Yes indeed I’m a geek…well, a bit of a half geek half something else kinda guy!

One of my favourite things to do is check out the multitudes of cool geek inspired gadgets and toys that are available online. One item that I just couldn’t resist chatting about is the super cool mini R/C Halo Warthog racers. R/C being radio controlled that is!
This just makes me wanna line up a long line of Lego men and run them down whilst laughing with malicious glee.

No I am not a homicidal maniac, not by a long shot. But that doesn’t mean I can take a trip down “nostalgia avenue” and have some childish fun every now and then.
The R/C Halo Warthog is an exact replica of the military buggy that we all know and love from the popular franchise of Halo video games.
Thats right it’s time to enter the mind of the Master Chief and rip around your house with one of the coolest geek toys I have seen in ages. No doubt your equally geeky friends will be mega jealous and be online searching for their very own Halo Warthog soon after :P

If you just can’t bear to go on living without your very own R/C Halo Warthog the best thing to do is to shoot across to Thinkgeek and check out their “geek toy” section. It’s jammed full of all sorts of radical toys that will get your cyber blood flowing…heck even if you aren’t a gamer there is quite a stash of interesting gear. Thinkgeek has collectible figures, plushies and a boat load of games and puzzles.

Us character design

Yo boys and girls.

If there is one thing I love its funky character design! Naturally being a part of Springleap.com means that I get to see a great deal of good up and coming character design from across the world, which of course in turn makes me a very happy puppy. Check out my choices of teh best Us character design.

One rather fun design with some good character design was Hedwig’s (yes the same name as Harry Potter’s owl) Looney Bunny submission. I do enjoy this design and yes I do like the characters, however it did not fall into my personal top 3 designs for the month, but it is in my top 10 no doubt! First off I really like the bunny, it has a familiarity that I can’t quite place, but I love the attitude of the bunny character. The design itself is also made up of a good, rather complimentary, colour choice. In fact I’m sure that Hedwig will make a lot of new fans with this design. No doubt we will be seeing more from this designer in the future. This is Hedwig’s first submission to Springleap.com and not a half bad one at that.
One final design element that I love about this design is the skulls. The skulls have so much personality and look like a sci-fi S&M artefact that you might find on Marilyn Manson’s coffee table. I just wish Hedwig would have made each of them unique, instead of simply resizing and flipping some of them. Its details like that which can make or break a design in the eyes of the community….cloning and flipping is almost as bad as over using vector packs on Springleap.com. The Us character design may have been a tad toned down compared to past competitions, but this one helps make up for it ;)
