My Business, My Network, My Fashion

The fashion industry is multi-faceted and largely similar to Eran Eyal’s take on the concept of Springleap.com ‘A gallery without walls’. That being said, individuals working within the realm of fashion are often looking to make connections and broaden their spectrum of contacts, knowledge and product diversity.

The South African Fashion Industry has recently been graced with a new community website, My Fashion. The site is aimed at creating a platform for fashion networking, opinion sharing, member interaction and a guide to the latest industry events. Activate Marketing and technology partner The Virtual Works are the ones who have made the website possible, adding to the pool of fashion focused communities.

The networking element of My Fashion is a primary function of the initiative and strives to bridge gaps between various roles within the fashion business industry. Interaction and growth spring from each registered user’s self-managed profile. This allows one to promote their fashion related business in style and make the connections they’ve been yearning to make.

The internet seems to be providing a firm helping hand in business growth to all corners of the globe. All you need is a creative streak and a modem to wiggle your way to success. Happy connecting all you fashion folks!

How many Emo kids does it take?

The world is populated with a gazillion different types of personalities, tastes and styles. One of the ‘deeper’ collections of people happen to be that group of kids who seem to have perfected the art of the side sweep fringe and high-angle shot MySpace profile picture taking. The Emo.

If you’re still a little confused as to the exact style of these individuals the following is a list of characteristics synonymous to an emo. If someone you know checks three or more of the below, then they are indeed an emo.

1. Ability to find the negative in a situation.
2. General hate for the world and the majority of people within it.
3. Often ponders about deep stuff behind a curtain of GHD’d black hair.
4. Always carries a set of razor blades on their person.
5. Uses words and phrases like ‘broken heart’, ‘doom’, ‘I like black’ and ‘cut’.
6. Personification of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh.
7. Wears copious amounts of black non-waterproof eyeliner (this is not gender restrictive).

All fact and bash aside they do carry with them two great fool proof fashion do’s: You can never go wrong with a pair of jeans and expressive tee! In true Springleap.com style we have a tee suiting style genres across the board. Hanging on Love by T is a truly emo inspired T-shirt design. Gotta love it!

Hanging on Love

On that note, I’ll leave you with a thought…

Question: How many emo’s does it take to buy the Hanging on Love T-shirt on the Springleap.com website?

Answer: Three. One to cry about it, one to rant about it and one to actually buy the T-shirt.

Leave the flashing to the camera… or not

Springleap.com have been thinking about sponsoring a sporting team, individual or finding a well suited brand ambassador to promote the brand. After intense research on which activity genre gets the most exposure, the team came up with a sport that is ideal for the fashion industry and Springleap.com brand. Women of tennis. What a brilliant idea!

Female tennis players are synonymous for accidentally showing their underwear while playing a match. So we figure that if we get trendy sportswoman to wear panties branded with the Springleap.com logo we will get maximum exposure while they give maximum exposure! It would be really important to find the perfect candidate, so after some review we have narrowed down our options for the post.

A great brand fit would be someone like Tatiana Golovin who shows a considerable amount of brookies while she embarks on opening a can of whoop-ass on the tennis court. However, this is still entry level stuff compared to the amount of publicity we are hoping to gain.

See, this lady (below) would be ideal to be a Springleap.com brand ambassador. Not only would the Springleap.com branded underwear be entirely visible to the public but people would splurge photos of the incident all over the internet too. Something viral! Awesome!

Unfortunately some people just wouldn’t fit our fresh, young, vibey image… like the next lady. We just wouldn’t benefit from sponsoring an individual when our Springleap.com branded underwear is swallowed by their rear mounds of cottage cheese mass. However we’re an open minded organisation and strive to bring innovation and versatility to the world of fashion and marketing. That being said, we may be able to work something out. We could rather put our design covering the entire surface area of her back; then the logo will even be visible from outerspace. I can see the headlines now “Springleap.com tent visible from Google Earth”! Now that’s what I call innovation!

You know what, I think that maybe we should take the publicity campaign back to the drawing board and rethink our brand ambassador search… so watch this space, we’ll be back with a bigger and better idea :-)
