For the most part our South Africanrock festivals are still considered fledgling in size compared to that of international levels. There is one particular hard rock music festival in England that I feel is my duty to comment on every year and that is the Download Festival.
The line up has already started appearing on their main page and lemme tell you it’s going to be HUGE!
Seriously there is nothing quite like the Download festival experience. When I was lucky enough to attend back in 2006 I got to experience international mega acts like Metallica, Tool, Prodigy and Guns N’ Roses….to name a few.
It seems that this year’s Download 2010 line up will be even amazing than back in 06. With a stunning line up featuring bands like Deftones, Them Crooked Vultures and Aerosmith, we can be assured of a festival that will go down as one of the best ever.
The Grammy Awards 2010 have come and gone…all that is left is the dull thud of its memory, not unlike the feeling after a heavy night of drinking. The glitz and sparkly nature of these events is probably what I like the least. However I do enjoy the Grammies for a handful of awards that interest me personally. Yup, I’m only interested in probably 5% of what ever goes on at the Grammy Awards, which is why I never watch the awards and rather wait until the results are placed neatly on a web page.
Here are the Grammy rock winners.
First off a mention must go out to Beyonce for her record setting 6 award haul. This is the most awards ever given to a female artist in one ceremony. Very impressive indeed!
I’m not a fan of her music, well besides for the South African Vodacom advert that used one of her songs, but I think we can all recognize the achievement. Congrats!
Ok, now onto the awards that I actually enjoy *drum roll* it’s the Grammy rock winners!
For most the party season is over. It’s time to get back to our normal lives, or start studying our respective courses. How quickly the fun comes and suddenly vanishes into the holiday haze.
But wait…thats not entirely true my friends. The party is still on if you care to look for it.
Prepare yourselves for the upcoming Origin trance party, which is set to give psychedelic trance fans a well needed power-up, before the colder months begin to encroach on our swarmy days of summer. Don’t laugh, for us Capetonians the threat of winter starts with all haste.
Thank you OriginJ
There will be two awesome dance floors at the Origin trance party. One Psy-trance dance floor and one for those of you who like a mix of Groovy beats.
Here is some rocking news for all of you music lovers out there.
Whenever summer hits in Cape Town music seems to take centre stage. One of the most popular summer music events in recent years, has been the Old Mutual Kirtsenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts.
No matter what your music tastes are, there will definitely be something for you to come and enjoy.
Just do yourself a favour, be like Jack: nimble and quick.
I went across to the SANBI website and scoped out the line-up which will be running all the way through to early February. Wow, I’m pretty sure the Summer Sunset Concerts never extended that long. But hey, I’m certainly not complaining.
Here is a link to the full listing of what to expect.
So which acts am I most looking forward to?
Well, here are my top choices of what is to come. Seriously all of our tastes are different, so best check the link.
The 27th of December is going to be a BIG ONE!Kirstenbosch will be rocked by not only Ashtray Electric, but also the Pretty Blue Guns. W00t, both of these bands are both becoming very well known and have gained a serious reputation, especially in Cape Town. Also this is a great pre-new year’s warm-up party to get you in the party mood. If you want tickets for this one you better bloody pounce quick-quick!
