So I bet you’re thinking: this is 1 cookedChicken, Joe.
Well… I would have liked to cook a bit more under the lovely Durban sunny skies, but sadly this was not to be.
I got out to Addington beach and Veccies beach today hoping for a swell swell – after all : the last 2 days we have had 8-10 foot swells in Durban! But sadly – I missed those as we are all working super-hard on http://www.springleap.com(springleap is the future of South Africa’s garment industry, for sure. Check it out).
No such luck for this Chicken Joe
Sadly the waves were absolute mush today. Mush too mush mush… and incredibly the beaches have changed once again in Durban – the hectic swells of the last few days washed away the whole bank! Now there are loads of stones and bricks at Veccies – sucks deluxe – readers…. please watch those toes! My pal Mike van Heerden’s lovely daughter smashed her toes on one of those. Shame, man!
Anyways : I digress – the sea was still surfable (of sorts) when I arrived and there were some good waves were to be had – had them I did! I had my wiggly whilley way with den – surfing solid and true.
There was a 4 second interval between sets with usually 2 good sets for every 4. This was eventually surfing the Blah Blah Blah – that’s what I call it when you just get more and more of the same nonsense – Like when someone just keeps yabbering on about crap – Blah Blah Blah.
Sadly the swell turned ugly and I was forced to the shores – there was just too much Blah Blah Blah.
You win some – you loose some – I guess I won cause at least I surfed and had a blast
When the Chicken promises - the chicken ALWAYS delivers
Enjoy;) I hope that pictures like these remind all of us that heaven is not some abstract concept - but a real place that is here and has been here all the while - it’s up to us to master the ART of OBSERVATION to BECOME AWARE of the incredible word we live in and the promise it holds.
To be AWARE of our tendencies and be delightened in the paradise we have always been searching for … RIGHT HERE. RIGHT NOW.
Last week I went down to the Gateway with a bud and checked out the Wavehouseat the far end of the centre (now that’s a good name for a book! At the far end of the centre – whoa. – focus Infinity…),before going to see some very stupid movie.
As readers will know (or subsequently find out) I just got back into surfing after a 13 year absence, and that morning I had an AWESOME surf – what really pipped it was 2 things : A. The Wavehouse; B. We missed the very stupid movie.
So what’s all this “Wavehouse” business?
Well… this side of the Gateway houses all thesurfing and skateboarding shops as well as a HUGE climbing wall… but if you go through the hall, you will find yourself faced with a very busy and developed outdoor area. Therein that area is a series of extreme outdoors activities arenas.
One of those arenas is a supercool WAVE generator.
